Frequently asked questions

What do I need to trade in a shopping centre?

Some kind of promotion stand, whether it is a purpose built unit or a simple banner stand, will be required along with an agreement that you can trade. Payment in full will also need to be made at least 2 weeks prior to your booking. Public Liability Insurance will also be required.

What costs can I expect?

Costs are usually charged weekly, though daily and weekend rates can apply. For longer term bookings, monthly payments are required and in some instances a small deposit may be required. There will be no additional charges for the use of electricity, water or cleaning at the centre though they are occasionally applicable for longer term (3 - 5 year) lease agreements.

Do I need to be insured?

Every promotion must be covered by insurance in case there are any accidents that occur while in the centre. Value of cover is usually set up to £5 million. Contact an insurance broker who will be able to provide you with the policy options.

What licences do you need?

JFR will provide you with a license, the duration of which is dependent upon how long you wish to book for, eg one or two weeks, or it can also be a longer term agreement such as six or twelve months. This license must be signed and returned to ourselves in order for you to gain access to the promotional site concerned.

What facilities will be available?

Sites will always make it clear if there is electricity available to be used. A Portable Appliance Test Certificate (PAT) will be needed for any electrical items more than 12 months old in order to connect to the centre’s electricity supply.

Do you provide promotional stands?

JFR Promotions do not provide any form of promotional equipment. Some shopping centres may be able to provide chairs and tables but this is on request.

How can I pay my invoice?

Invoices can be paid by BACS, cheque or via card payment over the phone.

Are there any reductions for block bookings?

Please discuss any potential discounts with a member of our team at the time of making a booking. We will always seek to get you the best price possible and longer-term bookings offer the potential for greater reductions.

Where do I go when I arrive on the day?

Make your presence known to a member of the security team and they will be able to show you the promotional area that you have booked.

Do I get free parking?

Unfortunately, no. You will have to pay for car parking while you are there although some centres do offer a concessionary rate.

Can you get promotional space anywhere in the UK?

YES! JFR Promotions work with shopping centres, stores, town centres, markets, garden centres, bus / train stations and more and operate right across the UK. We will always try and get the space that you are after subject to availability and other restrictions.

What is a pop-up shop?

Pop-up shops are short-term storefronts that sell merchandise of all kinds of merchandise. They can appear for any length of time from a week up to several months.

How do I choose the right promotional space?

This will depend on what you are trying to achieve. Promotional space can be used for a variety of activities from face-to-face marketing to concessions or handing out free samples. You need to consider footfall, audience demographics and potential dwell time. The main types of promotional space are shopping centres, transport interchanges and town centres.
